FAQ – Power Engineering Courses

Yes, as long as our tutoring network has the ability to keep up to student support requests.

We allow our students to register for our courses at their convenience, providing immediate access upon payment. The only time we will restrict student intake, is when our support team is at capacity. In this situation, we will onboard another support member before opening our student intake again.

Yes, our courses are structured to prepare a student for the SOPEEC exams, which are standardized across Canada. Regardless of your location in Canada, our material will meet your needs.

We guarantee that our tutorial course student’s will pass their exams.

If a student is unsuccessful on their provincial exam, we have a couple of options:

  1. We will review their results and create a customized study plan to target their weaknesses, backed with onging support from our team of tutors.
  2. We will offer a full money back refundafter a quick call to gather feedback about your experience.

Guarantee documentation is provided upon course registration.

On average, our courses will take roughly 40-60 hours to complete (give or take , depending on a students knowledge and comfort with the material). We recommend finding at least 10 hours per week to apply to a students studies, resulting in an average of 1.5 to 2 months of preparation.

Every student is different which is why we provide a self paced course. This allows our students to work at a pace that aligns with their schedule. If a student has more, or less time to apply to their studies, this will reflect the length of time it will take to complete.

Our courses are available to our students until they pass their exams.

We set an automatic 6 month expiry on our courses, but if you need to extend your studies, simply email us at Team@powerengineering101.com to request a free extension.

Yes, our content is focused on the SOPEEC syllabus.

Keep in mind that all of our material is original and has been developed in house. It is key to be able to understand how to answer our questions, rather than memorizing questions and answers. If a student can comfortably understand and navigate our material, they will do well on their provincial exams.

We review and update our material on a regular basis.

As our students work through our material, we gather their feedback to make necessary changes to our course material. We leverage the power of our community to ensure we are providing the most relevant and efficient preparation tools.

When exams transition from written/essay style to multiple choice, we launch new practice questions and update more often until aligned with the SOPEEC syllabus and provincial exams.

We recommend reading each chapter to help gain context and understanding, but if time is a constraint then following our system to focus only on the areas that we recommend will suffice.

Our course material references the recommended textbooks to help focus a students preparation on the essentials. As our questions are answered, a student is essentially creating the master copy of their study notes.

All of our courses include access to our support network. If a student has questions regarding any of the content in our course, we will be here to help explain and provide context. This will ensure a strong understanding of the material needed for a successful provincial exam.

Emailed support is our primary means of communication, allowing a student to refer back to the conversation as needed. Typically, we can answer all questions within a 12 to 24 hour period (if not faster). If emailed communication will not suffice or provide enough context, we also have the ability to schedule 1-on-1 virtual tutoring via GoogleMeet.

This depends on the exam you are preparing for and your previous experience/education.

Any entry level students (5th or 4th class), with no previous experience or education, must complete a college course, with the exception of Saskatchewan residents.

If you have a marine engineering background, mechanical engineering degree, or direct experience and time in a thermal generating facility (domestic or international), then you may be eligible to challenge your provincial exams. This is assessed by each jurisdiction on a case by case basis.

Reach out to us using the contact form below to discuss your situation. Let us know about your career history and which province you plan to write your exams.

Not yet, but we are working on it.

Currently, we are unable to provide accreditation to allow entry level (5th or 4th class) student’s to write their provincial exams*. That being said, we have helped a lot of student’s through their college courses, offering support and structure to their preparation for both the institution as well as their provincial exams.

All other exams can be challenged following a 4th class certification. Our services are an excellent option for students preparing for 3rd, 2nd or 1st class exams.

*Exception for Saskatchewan residents, as they do not require a college course to be able to challenge their provincial exams.

Yes. We have worked with student’s abroad who are preparing to immigrate to Canada.

We recommend that you reach out using the contact form below to discuss your situation.
