Project and Operations Engineer

Gasia is developing a new pilot plant operation near Unity,
Saskatchewan. The pilot intends to process 500 barrels per day of unblended bitumen
converting into various products. The project is at an early stage of engineering with
construction expected in early 2026 with operations commencing 2-3 months from start
of construction. Anticipated equipment will include process heater, heat exchangers,
coolers, pumps, control valves and control systems. Once the pilot is deemed
successful, the project may grow to a commercial permanent development with long
term duration.
Role: The Operations Engineer is an entry level role and will provide assistance to lead
project engineers and owners engineer and report directly to the Chief Operation
Officer. Tasks will be developed in phases from engineering to construction to
commissioning and operations. In engineering phase the role will include assistance in
project management, data management, coordination with engineering and regulatory
preparation filing. Working with the engineering lead, role may also include various
equipment procurement activities for either rental or purchase of equipment. In the
construction phase, the operations engineer is expected to be on site during
construction assisting Construction Project Management with project management,
construction and procurement activities and operations preparation. This will also
include the preparation of operating procedures, assistance with hiring and training of
operators, preparation of laboratory and testing procedures and equipment as needed.
During the commissioning phase, the role will include punch list activity in support of
the Commissioning and Startup team including assistance with testing and
commissioning of equipment including training for operations of equipment and
systems. During the operations phase, the role is expected to provide assistance to
the on site operators including development of safe operating procedures, process
monitoring, data capture and logging, sampling and testing of products, test runs of
technology and process equipment, troubleshooting of operations, communication and
reporting to management.
Location: Initially located in Calgary during the engineering phase, to role will relocate to
Unity during construction and operations phases.
Compensation: role will be contract with $5000 per month salary. No benefits will be
provided to contract position.
Education and experience: ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of applicable
engineering experience ideally with oil and gas engineering and operations functions.

The candidate will have background and education in either mechanical or chemical
engineering. Ideal candidate will either have or have made progress with a Class 4
Power Engineering. Candidate is expected to be able to work, communicate and
collaborate in a team environment with other third party contractors and operators.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $5,000.00 per month
