Production Labourer / Maintenance Mechanic

$24-26/hour CAD

Job Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Labourer / Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for operating the manufacturing equipment that supplies raw materials to the production line, and this person will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the icemakers and packaging equipment.
Job Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance.
Conducts basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure production equipment runs efficiently.
Adopts a culture of cleanliness and safety in the work environment.
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Operates and monitors assigned lines, materials, and finished products as necessary to facilitate proper flow and machine operation.
Coordinates the movement of products from the production lines to the skids.
Examines product for quality and ensures all Food Safety Handling Procedures are followed.
Records daily logs of packages bags and wasted packaging material.
Inspects date codes for accuracy and legibility.
Leads in the starting of and shutting down of all ice machines each day.
Records pressure and temperature readings to comply with regulations.
Adopts and adheres to all applicable health and safety regulations, both legislatively mandated and as outlined in company policy.
Additional duties may be assigned.
Candidate Qualifications

Experience in a plant maintenance / production Labourer role, specifically in maintaining food packaging equipment is considered an asset.
Ability to lift, push, and pull 40lbs. repeatedly.
Comfortable working independently as well as in a team setting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail.
Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Experience in changing, maintaining motors, gearbox and augers.
Experience in troubleshooting electrical issues and working knowledge of VFDs and sensors.
Class 4 or 5 Power Engineering certification would be an asset
