McCain Foods (Canada) has an immediate opening for a 3rd Class Power Engineer to join our boiler room team. Consideration will be given to a 4th Class Power Engineer, willing and able to obtain 3rd Class. Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the successful applicant will assume duties and responsibilities as provided under the Power Engineers Act. In addition, this person will participate in key factory activities.

Responsibilities:
Shift work required (365 days/year operation)
Some call-in’s may be required
Operate boilers, refrigeration plant, water treatment plant and ancillary equipment.
Assist in maintenance of equipment in these areas
Responsible for the completion of all documentation and procedures for the area, including established testing/monitoring requirements
Support the Process Safety Management Program for Ammonia for the site through Management of Change documentation and Line Break Permits
Maintain a neat work area, perform daily housekeeping duties
Provide assistance and support to maintenance and production departments
All additional duties as they become assigned
Continuous improvement activities within the plant.
Comply with factory GMP’s, Safety, and HACCP Best Operating Procedures

Qualifications:
Must hold a valid 3rd Class Power Engineer License in compliance with the provisions of the Power Engineer’s Act of NB or hold a valid 4th Class Power Engineer License and be willing to obtain a 3rd Class.
Grade 12 or GED Equivalent
Experience with both steam and ammonia refrigeration systems is desirable
Basic computer skills would be an asset.
Experience with SAP computerized maintenance management system would be an asset
Ability to work well in a team environment.

Applicants must possess a good safety record and continually demonstrate “safety first.” Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, prior PEP Ratings, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal. Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will be held as necessary and those selected for interviews are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability to the position. Shifts are subject to change and are not guaranteed due to scheduling demands.
