We have an amazing opportunity for a Plant Operator to join our Albian Plant Operations Team. As a Plant Operator, you will interact and coordinate with a team of operators and maintenance staff to ensure that production, quality and environmental targets are met for our operations. The key functions of a Plant Operator are to contribute to the reliability and safe operations of our facility and to work with many key internal and external stake holders. This position reports to the Shift Team Lead.

Job location: Albian Sands Site – Fort McMurray, Alberta
Shift schedule: 7 x 7 – rotating day and night, working 12 hours/shift (Tuesday -Monday)

Key Accountabilities:

Utilize your operations expertise in a dynamic production environment, maintain and optimize equipment and processes and collaborate with members of your team to oversee the day-to-day plant activities
Issuing Safe Work Permits within a complex hydrocarbon operating environment, including hot work, work within confined spaces, and excavation/trenching work and safe isolation of process equipment including; the development of specific equipment Lock Out Tag Outs (LOTO’s), placing and verifying isolations, and blinding
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform area maintenance activities and housekeeping including -Blinding, Valve and pump replacements and operating mobile equipment
Recommending modifications to plant processes where performance can be improved. Work with the various teams on preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is running efficiently and safely
Utilize our maintenance management system and enter work orders for deficiencies that need to be repaired and monitor facility readings, perform proactive equipment monitoring rounds and sample collections
Participate in review, modifications or development of facility procedures and start-up, operate and shut down unit operations with expertise
Ensure all safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facility under operations care
Identify and scope out Continuous Improvement opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs and eliminate downtime
Maintain proper documentation on a shift-by-shift basis including operating logs, Intelletrac, maintenance records and safety & environmental reports
Provide training on operating policies and procedures
What You Bring to the Role:

5 years of Operational or Tradesman work with Hydrocarbon experience at a large integrated industrial facility with a minimum Grade 12 or GED is required
4th Class Power Engineering Ticket and/or Journeyman Certification and/or a Technology Diploma is an asset
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Self-starter that works well in a high paced team environment with a continuous improvement mindset
Ability to work in an outside environment, at heights, climbing ladders and work in and around confined spaces
