About this opportunity:
Upstream Thermal Operations has an opportunity for a Plant Operator for our Thermal Dee Valley organization. The Facility Operation consists of water treating, high pressure steam generation, sour oil wells and oil treating facilities. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring it is run in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining the necessary production requirements.

Work Environment:
This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area
This is a full-time employee position working a shift rotation
What you’ll do:
Operate the Facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team
Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Company’s guidelines
Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g. volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)
Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Company’s requirements, policies and procedures, while leading by example
Provide assistance, mentoring, on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required
Stay in sync with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this Position’s responsibilities
Align with High Reliability Organization standards and expectations
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate required; progress towards 2nd Class certification preferred, with at least 3 years’ experience operating steam generating equipment, control panels, and oil processing systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, and field data capture systems (considered an asset), with a proven understanding of equipment isolation, safe work permitting, and hazard analysis
Experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset, along with strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical proficiency
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work optimally in a team environment
Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal direction, and committed to adhering to safety and regulatory standards

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
