Cenovus is currently looking for a plant operator with a minimum 3rd class Power Engineering certificate to operate the Rainbow Lake Processing Plant. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of Oil and Gas experience, 2 years of working in a steam plant and two years preparing and implementing lock out/tag outs. This role is based in Rainbow Lake and is 14 days on 14 days off rotational role. The role requires the successful candidate to live in Rainbow Lake while on shift.
What you’ll do:
Operate a plant area or unit in a safe, effective and productive manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team under supervision of a Lead Plant Operator (the Shift Engineer)
Maintain and fix all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per Cenovus guidelines
Issue work requests, safe work permits, and perform equipment isolations (LOTO).
Perform process & equipment condition monitoring including sampling, testing & analysis as per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records such as routine readings, log sheets, required reports, P&ID updates, car seal audits, etc
Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on-site maintenance contractors by communicating Cenovus requirements, policies, and procedures, while leading by example
Develop and progress personal performance to increasing Operator levels, including attaining necessary Power Engineering certification as required. Provide assistance, mentor, on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required
Participate in the development, review, and revision of Safe Operating Procedures. Follow safe operating and chemical handling procedures
Report all safety observations, near misses and incidents. Participate in hazard/risk assessments, safety meetings and incident investigations, as required
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
High School diploma
3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Steam Plant including all associated processes and systems
A minimum of 2 years of Oil and Gas Plant Operator experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance and safe work permitting

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
