We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Technician (Millwright) in our Maintenance Department, at our Winnipeg, Manitoba location. The primary role of the Maintenance Technician is to provide technical services to production teams in supporting production uptime, ensuring optimal functioning of the production equipment and facilities. This position provides critical support in reducing production down time, implementation of preventive maintenance programs, and effective troubleshooting of equipment. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will schedule and coordinate 3rd party service providers and liaise with consultants directly involved in the delivery of services for the physical plant, resolving base building deficiencies, coordination of building system upgrades, and life-cycle replacement of base building systems and equipment.
The Maintenance Technician is a member of the maintenance team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve assigned business unit goals; works closely with team members to ensure all maintenance activities are completed on time, according to Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements; and as required, provides support to other roles within the maintenance team.

This position requires night shift work Sunday to Thursday from 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 p.m., including weekends, and holiday in a 24/7 operation.

The successful candidate will be required in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Scheduling and preparation for annual inspections
Responsible for ensuring adequate shift coverage
Ensure log books are filled out accurately
Perform preventive maintenance as per program requirements
Respond appropriately to emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment to reduce manufacturing machine downtime
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
Communicate as necessary with 3rd party contracts (Canepp, Westchem).
Ensure employee credentials are displayed in boiler room
Operate steam boiler
Complete work orders related to steam lines/fittings
Perform all safety protocols when operating steam boiler
Update and maintain information in the system
Coordinate activities of outside contractors when required
Clean and maintain boiler room
Chemical stock and dosing equipment
Weekly chemical level checks on boiler and water softener.

Follow all SOPs and regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the writing and review of standard operating procedures and standard work documentation for maintenance processes and tasks.

Adhere to all safety practices and protocols related to job responsibilities and tasks including wearing all appropriate Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
Act in accordance with company policies related to personal and group health and safety practices and procedures.

COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, Ability)
Sound knowledge of manufacturing / industrial equipment
Equipment and mechanical troubleshooting skills
Completion of mandatory Health & Safety training including Lockout, Confined Space Entry, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
Familiarity with MDI quality systems such as international Standards Organization (ISO), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and 5S.
Able to move from one task to another efficiently and accurately.
Demonstrates team approach, behaviors and interpersonal skills that contribute to a positive team and work environment.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the proven ability to clearly understand instructions and communicate one-on-one.
Organized in approach to work assignments, practices effective time management, and prioritizes tasks.
Working use of computer programs (i.e. CMMS, Excel, and Outlook)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Millwright plus 3 years experience or a combination of education and years of manufacturing work experience in the trade. Food industry experience preferred.
Class 4 or 3 Power Engineering certificate (or in the process of certification)
Solid technical and maintenance background to perform various maintenance activities.
Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment.
Solid experience in maintaining and improving on preventive and ongoing maintenance programs.
Background in PLC programming an asset
Physical strength and stamina to complete maintenance and repair work
Flexibility to respond to issues outside of regular working hours.
Previous exposure to working with Computerized Maintenance Management System and Enterprise / Manufacturing Resource Planning systems is a definite advantage.
