Maintenance Technician

Onda, a private aquaculture innovation and research company has an opening for suitably skilled staff to support the Victoria (PEI) facility, and its ongoing operations. The Maintenance Technician is a full-time permanent position in the Operations department, with the successful candidate reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

 

Responsibilities include:

Day to day monitoring and maintenance of electric steam generator.
Daily monitoring and maintenance of 6 hot water boilers.
Performs daily and routine maintenance and monitoring of equipment such as HVAC, motors , pumps , plumbing, electrical, and water systems.
Helps to maintain efficiency of the operations, adheres to standard operating procedure and the preventive maintenance program.
Performs daily monitoring and data collection related to facility functions.
Assists in setting up and decommissioning of aquaculture
Assists in the construction of new aquarium space.
Will ensure the mechanical operation of all equipment in the facility in compliance with regulatory and quality guidelines.
Must be available to be part of the scheduled rotation for weekend work and after hours on‐call monitoring of

 

Desired skills/experience/competencies:

Must possess a 4th class power engineering license.
Strong mechanical aptitude is considered an asset.
Experience with electric motors , pumps , compressors
Experience in another trade (plumbing, electrical, millwright etc.) considered an asset.
Experience in the operation of aquaculture systems and their equipment
Physically able to handle tasks that could include but are not limited to lifting, bending, climbing, wearing PPE, exposure to wet, cold, and hot environments.
Ability to work as part of a team in compliance with facility standard operating
Prior experience in a CFIA regulated/GLP environment is considered an
Willingness to learn new skills and to perform routine
Demonstrable organizational skills with the ability to multi‐
Self‐motivated with a demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve

Must be eligible to work in Canada
