The Manitoba government is seeking highly motivated Maintenance Assistant to work within the Asset Management Division of Consumer Protection and Government Services.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence without restrictions and be able to work in other locations within the Division as needed.
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including sitting, lifting, reaching, and working at heights and in confined spaces.
Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends, including statutory holidays.
Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and enhanced internal security checks.
Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications:
Essential:

Technical certification with a trade designation, such as 5th Class Power Engineering certificate, or a post secondary certificate/diploma in a facility/property management environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety, policies and legislation.
Experience with building maintenance and repair and/or minor construction.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships.
Verbal communication skills.
Written communication skills.
Ability to analyze and problem solve.
Duties:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Resource Manager or designate, the incumbent performs a variety of planned or unplanned, moderately complex tasks relating to the operation, and maintenance at Selkirk Mental Health Centre within various locations. The incumbent will be required to perform those tasks as assigned while keeping record of time and materials used to complete minor maintenance not requiring the expertise of a journeyman while dealing with client concerns. The incumbent will work as a team member and use current safe work practices and follow Workplace Safety and Health policies.
