About the Role:

The Lead Plant Maintenance Technician is crucial in planning, scheduling, and directing the work activities of staff and contractors at generation facilities. This role involves developing and executing operational and maintenance job plans, setting work priorities, and providing technical and developmental support to staff. The incumbent will lead a team of maintenance technicians on essential utility infrastructure, ensuring that operations and maintenance align with ATCO Electric’s standards of efficiency, safety, and quality.

What You’ll Do:

Lead the maintenance and operation of power generation systems including diesel, hydro, and battery energy storage equipment and auxiliaries.
Develop and supervise operational and maintenance job plans for staff and contractors, set work priorities and schedules, and ensure work standards for quality and competence are met.
Oversee, and occasionally execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks across multiple remote sites.
Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance, to enhance the safe and reliable operation of power systems.
Maintain administrative oversight, including report preparation, material ordering, and updates to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Foster a safe work environment, leading by example and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Act as the Operator-in-Charge, ensuring the reliability and safety of generation sites and monitor on SCADA devices.
Support budget management for Capital and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) expenditures, including forecasting and variance reporting.
Lead and direct crew activities, mentor apprentices, and support recruitment and performance management.
What You Bring:

High school diploma
An inter-provincial journeyman trade certificate as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Millwright, Electrician or other similar trade.
Electrical or Mechanical Technologist Diploma, Project Management or Asset Management Professional Certificate, and/or Power Engineering (4th Class or higher) Certificate would be an asset.
Valid driver’s license
Minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant role, with a strong background in rotating equipment and industrial power generation, i.e. operation, maintenance, construction, commissioning.
Experience in diesel engines, hydro turbines, remote control centers (i.e. SCADA).
First Aid Certificate with CPR would be an asset.
Demonstrable commitment to enhancing workplace safety and customer service excellence.
