Head Custodian

Location: École Beausejour Early Years School, Beausejour, MB

Effective Date: to start as soon as can be arranged

1.0 FTE (PERM) – 8 hours per day

(7:30am-4:00pm approximately, Monday to Friday, 12 months/year)

Responsibilities

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to implement all fire and safety regulations
Ordering of supplies and materials
Ability to use computer programs to perform functions of the position
Perform major cleaning duties during Summer and Christmas breaks
Supervision of Assistant Caretaker & Cleaners
Open school buildings on school days and when otherwise required
Maintain school grounds, buildings, equipment and furnishings
Ability to maintain cleaning equipment
Advise and make necessary arrangements for public use of buildings and grounds
Take necessary training as it relates to equipment and machinery
Demonstrate initiative in monitoring the cleanliness and repair of the building
Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager and School Administration
Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
5th Class Power Engineer Certificate is an asset
Familiarity with the requirements of the W.H.M.I.S. regulations
Previous supervisory experience an asset
Basic computer knowledge; training will be provided specific to programs used
Strong mechanical and electrical experience to complete repairs and troubleshoot issues related to building operations
Good communication skills
Ability to interact with students, staff, and the general public in a friendly and courteous manner
Ability to maintain confidentiality

as per CUPE 5097 Collective Agreement
