The Karr Gas Plant is a key component of CSV Midstream’s gas processing network, strategically located approximately 70 km south of Grande Prairie. The facility supports regional natural gas production through safe, efficient, and reliable processing operations. The plant plays an important role in maximizing product recovery and ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance while supporting the long-term growth of CSV’s infrastructure platform in Alberta.
Overview:
The Gas Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Karr Gas Plant. This role includes monitoring and controlling plant processes, performing routine operations and troubleshooting activities, and supporting maintenance and optimization efforts to ensure consistent production performance.
The Gas Plant Operator is expected to work a 7 days on / 7 days off rotational schedule, alternating between days and nights, with 12-hour shifts.
Please note that this is not a camp position. Candidates must be willing to relocate to Grande Prairie if not already living in the area.
Key Accountabilities:
The Gas Plant Operator will be accountable for the following:
Safely operate and monitor plant equipment and processes to ensure efficient and reliable facility performance
Perform routine field surveillance, equipment inspections, and operational checks to maintain optimal conditions
Execute start-ups, shutdowns, and process adjustments in accordance with operating procedures
Troubleshoot process upsets and equipment issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
Support plant optimization efforts to maximize production while maintaining cost efficiency and reliability
Coordinate and oversee contractors and trades during maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely and effectively
Maintain accurate production data, logs, and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company requirements
Promote and demonstrate strong safety leadership by adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and procedures
Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and safe work practices across all operational activities
Maintain housekeeping standards and support general maintenance tasks to ensure a clean and orderly facility
Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to support reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and operational effectiveness
Perform other related duties as required
Education and Experience requirements:
The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a 4th Class Power Engineering certification. Preference will be given to candidates with higher-level certification and relevant gas plant operating experience.
In addition, the successful candidate will have:
Hands-on experience in a gas processing environment, with exposure to systems such as gas compression, refrigeration, dehydration, amine treating, and condensate stabilization
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve process and equipment issues effectively
Solid understanding of plant operations, procedures, and safe work practices
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities with a high attention to detail
Ability to adapt to changing operational demands and shifting priorities
Competence with computer systems including Microsoft Office, work order systems, and SCADA-related programs
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
