Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Steeprock facility is recruiting for a Gas Plant Operator to join the team. This position reports to the Day Foreman, Operations in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities division.

The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas and liquids processing fee-for-service solutions for customers in strategic locations across the Western Canadian Sedimentary and Williston Basins. We are the largest third-party gas processor serving the WCSB at 6.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) and 128,000 bbl/d of condensate stabilization. Liquids processed and extracted from the facilities are transported by Pembina’s Conventional Pipelines business unit with a portion of the volumes being further processed at Pembina’s RFS facilities. Positioning of GBU at the front of the value chain allows Pembina to offer full integration from well head to market.

As a Gas Plant Operator, the successful candidate will be responsible for daily operations of the Steeprock Gas Plant. The position is a 7-day rotating shift consisting of 12-hour shifts, days and nights, with crew trucks coming out of Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek daily.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Start up, operate and shut down unit operations within the gas plant as well as the entire plant with expertise;
Review, understand and fully utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work;
Ensure all safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facilities under operational care. This will include Safe Work Permits and Field Level Task Assessments;
Clearly document facilities operation in logbook reporting, daily production reports and reliability reporting;
Participate in commissioning and startup activities;
Identify and troubleshoot process upsets, take action to resolve issues;
Call out maintenance for equipment repairs, ensure the priority level for repairs is communicated as required;
Look for cost savings opportunities and relay them to the team during operations meetings;
Incident reporting;
Keep safety tickets up to date & coordinate required training;
Work with a safety conscious attitude;

Qualifications:

Completion of 4th Class Power Engineering, at minimum;
A minimum of 1 year of experience in gas plant or field operations and familiarity with all aspects of the operations and established procedures will be valued;
Post-secondary education in the oil & gas industry is an asset;
Equipment experience including gas compression and sulfur recovery would be considered a strong asset;
Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills;
Ability to multi-task and maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate the variable duties of the position; and
Working knowledge of MS Office applications is necessary.

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You will also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.

The successful candidate must live within 100 of Steeprock, or reside in Grande Prairie.

BC Pay Transparency Requirement: The base salary range for this position is $84,600.00 CAD to $130,000.00 CAD. Actual total compensation may differ based on candidate’s qualifications and location.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
