Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG), a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., owns and operates natural gas processing, transmission and distribution systems in British Columbia’s lower Peace, west central, and north coast regions. PNG’s western transmission system extends from the Enbridge gas transmission system north of Prince George and along the Highway 16 corridor to Terrace and then onto the port communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert, providing gas transportation and service to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the Province’s northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd., a subsidiary of PNG, provides gas processing, transmission and distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.

Reporting to the Manager, Operations Northeast, this position is located in our Fort St. John office. The District Superintendent is responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of the Sales and Service, Construction and Measurement Teams located in Fort. St. John.

Salary Range:

$ 101,700 to $119,600
What You Will Do:

Manage, provide direction, and be responsible for all aspects of activities in the District Office.
Direct supervision of approximately 15 employees
Assist with budget development for the departments and monitor the cost, including reporting on variances monthly.
Coordination of training requirements for personnel
Prepare detailed monthly reports including current and emerging issues, the status of ongoing projects, progress towards objectives, and plans for the next month.
Emergency preparedness and response
Relief coverage for Operations Manager Northeast and Superintendent Dawson Creek.
Work as a subject matter expert on our Maximo, preventative, and maintenance program
Perform probationary, competency performance reviews of direct reports.
Assist in the Initiation of disciplinary investigations and reviews.
Duties:

Represents the company with respect to Construction & Maintenance, Distribution, Transmission and Gas Plant related emergencies.
Assist in developing and updating policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable codes.
Assist in developing meaningful relationships between local area personnel, fire departments, indigenous groups, municipal offices, and other outside agencies.
Coach, train, and lead people to ensure strong, safe team environments.
Detailed planning on approved projects from conception through to completion.
Ensure As-built records are accurate and complete and project completion reports and accruals are up to date.
Work closely with the business development team on feasibility studies for potential projects, customers, and indigenous opportunities.
Oversee budgets for the Area, including maintaining and assisting with budget development, conducting budget reviews and variance analysis.
Initiate disciplinary action as required.
Benchmark best practices of other similar companies
Manage department Safety and Environmental initiatives.
Perform Manager on-call duties on a rotational basis which involves monitoring the daily gas supply, monitoring the pipeline system via the SCADA system, and dispatching employees as required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring acceptable performance measures are in place and are actively monitored; including but not limited to the following:

Environmental Incidents
Cost Control (budget variance)
Employee Wellness (absenteeism, AWOL, sick, etc.…)
System reliability
Productivity
What You Will Need to Succeed:

Minimum of 10 years of progressive industry experience, 5 years in a supervisory role
Post Secondary Education or Qualifications in one or more relevant disciplines is preferred: Certified Gas fitter; Read Seal Journey Person; Professional Engineer or Engineering in Training designation.
PMP and 4th Class Power Engineer designation are considered an asset.
Proven leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
Proven organizational skills and problem-solving ability.
Ability to travel significantly to and from outlying company locations.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a highly detailed environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Approachable, flexible and able to adapt to a fluid work environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong computer skills
