About the Role
The District Energy Operator will be a key member of the Windsor team, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and systems associated with packaged hot water boilers, steam boilers, centrifugal refrigeration chillers, and diesel gensets to achieve station objectives in accordance with established procedures, customer contracts and regulations. We are seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about decarbonization and has a desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy.
Duties & Responsibilities
To act as the Shift Engineer in accordance with the TSSA Operating Engineers Regulation.
Monitor and control operating and maintenance activities.
Prepare, check, issue, apply and remove work protection in accordance wit the Standard Work Protection practices and procedures.
Monitor all systems and make necessary adjustments to maintain delivery of services to customers in accordance with requirements.
Participate in training programs to upgrade own knowledge/skills related to existing and new equipment and deliver on the job training to others as requested.
Perform maintenance functions requiring the use of hand tools and other light equipment.
Complete water tests on all systems and make any adjustments in accordance with standard procedures and practices.
Complete maintenance and routine inspections on all plant equipment in accordance with standard maintenance procedures, equipment manufacturer’s recommendations.
Liaise with external contacts and customers as required with respect to operating and maintenance activities.
Assist in developing standard operating and maintenance procedures.
Material and supplies handling, delivery to plant from landlord’s shipping and receiving.
Use computers to complete related accountabilities, system control functions, and administration of the computerized maintenance management system.
Other duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer & General Manager, or their designate.
Relationships (Internal/External Stakeholders)
Liaise and work with all Enwave team members, contractors, customers, and external contacts and stakeholders in a professional manner.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Grade 12 or equivalent plus a minimum of two years suitable experience in the operation of packaged boilers, and industrial refrigeration equipment.
Applicants must possess a valid Ontario Third Class Operating Engineering Certificate. Preference will be given to applicants possessing a valid Ontario Second Class Operating Engineers Certificate and/or B Class Refrigeration Operators Certificate.
Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Driver’s license in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act.
Applicants must be willing to work 12-hour shifts in a rotating continental shift format, including weekend and holidays.
Applicants must demonstrate skills and knowledge required for safe operation of boilers, refrigeration compressors, diesel gensets, associated auxiliary equipment and switchgear.
Applicants must demonstrate good communication skills both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to administer approved work protection.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
