We’re hiring an experienced Chief Power Engineer to join a well-established food production facility in the GTA. This is a great opportunity to join a stable and growing manufacturing environment with a strong focus on food safety, operational efficiency, and long-term career development.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and resolve issues related to boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration, air compressors, and other mechanical/electrical systems.
Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures to minimize downtime and prevent reoccurrence.
Respond to urgent maintenance issues related to pressure vessels, heating systems, and refrigeration systems as per TSSA standards.
Interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and schematics to identify and solve faults.
Perform routine equipment inspections and monitor system performance to proactively address anomalies.
Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot process-related problems affecting plant operations.
Adjust system controls and perform minor programming corrections (PLC/HMI familiarity is an asset).
Escalate unresolved issues to vendors or senior technicians while documenting all troubleshooting steps taken.
Support energy optimization initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in plant utilities and recommending corrective actions.
Maintain detailed maintenance logs, fault reports, and troubleshooting documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records
Support the facility’s preventative maintenance program
Recommend improvements in energy usage, reliability, and system upgrades
Skills & Qualifications:
4th Class Power Engineer Certification (TSSA required)
Minimum 3–4 years of experience in a manufacturing or food production environment
Hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration systems (ammonia preferred)
Familiarity with boilers, air compressors, HVAC, and related utilities
Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and regulations (TSSA, OHSA)
Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to emergencies if needed
Strong communication and teamwork skills
