JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for operating, maintaining and repairing SaskTel buildings and properties with required certification and licensing. Acts as chief engineer and refrigeration engineer as specified in the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act of Saskatchewan. Provides project and contract management on contracted building services.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)

Acts as Chief Engineer and Refrigeration Engineer. Responsible for all heating, cooling and humidification systems.
Operates, maintains and repairs buildings, systems, equipment and grounds, adhering to buildings’ practices, programs and all applicable statutes and regulations.
Performs regular preventative maintenance routines on systems and buildings.
Promptly responds to customer requests. Identifies and analyzes problems and takes corrective action.
Investigates, takes corrective action and/or resolves environmental issues by inspecting, calibrating and troubleshooting HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) equipment and controls.
Responsible for administration of contracted buildings services. (i.e. snow removal, grounds maintenance).
Provides project management for maintenance, repair and renovation projects and assists other departments in initial input and/or

QUALIFICATIONS

 

1. Refrigeration Engineer’s Certificate with one of the following:
a) Building System Technician certification and 5th Class Power Engineers Certificate
b) BOMI SMT with two years relevant experience and 5th Class Power Engineer’s Certificate
c) Journeyperson: electrician or plumber or Refrigeration Technician and Limited Power Engineer’s Certificate (Fireman’s)
2. Working knowledge of personal computers and various software applications.
3. Ability to lead and train others.
4. Good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
5. General knowledge of fire codes, regulations, procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
6. General knowledge of Environmental regulations and Policies.
7. Valid Driver’s License.
8. Qualifications to progress to Step D: Pesticide Applicators Certificates (Industrial and Structural).
9. Qualification to progress to Step I: Completion of specified online courses (Time Management – 5 modules, Project Management – 10 modules)
and the BOMI SMA Environmental Health and Safety Issues module OR completion of the BOMI SMA designation.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

SPECIFICATIONS
1. Overtime may be requested.
2. Shift work as per Collective Agreement.
3. In-province travel is required, including northern positions flying to remote locations.
4. Operates various power hand tools.
5. Operates various powered mobile equipment (i.e. 4X4 boom sprayer, front-end loader, grass cutting equipment).
6. Required to work at various heights above ground (e.g. extended ladders, scaffolding, roof tops, etc.)
7. Responds to call-outs in accordance to the Collective Agreement
8. Required to work in confined spaces, and to use SCBA (self contained
breathing apparatus) to respond to fire or chemical emergencies.
9. Required to respond to specific emergencies (ie: Bomb Threat, Environmental Spills, Bio Hazard)
10. Required training to perform their duties. (Environmental Spill Training, Fall Protection training, Bomb Threat, Asbestos, SCBA (self
contained breathing apparatus )
11. Works alone
12. Complies with all safety, health and environmental policies, programs and standards at all times.
13. Drivers License 5G-1 will be required.
