Position Summary: The Building Operator II will be responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the museum’s facilities, trails, and roadways ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for both visitors and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for all Wanuskewin employees, elders, board members and guests by consistently completing daily custodial and maintenance procedures.

· Operate and maintain HVAC, boilers, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.

· Monitor building systems, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and coordinating repairs with external vendors when necessary.

· Ensure each room in the facility is adequately stocked with necessary inventory and advise management of supply needs in advance ensuring inventory is kept at reasonable levels.

· Conduct regular inspections of building equipment and systems, documenting and communicating findings and performing preventive maintenance as needed.

· Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety standards, building codes, and regulations.

· Support events and exhibitions by coordinating facility setup and maintenance as required.

· Participate in safety meetings and the development of safety policies.

· Provides notification to management of any potential equipment/asset breakdowns or safety concerns

· Collaborate with other departments, fostering a positive working relationship across the organization.

· Provide excellent customer service to visitors and staff regarding facility-related inquiries.

Requirements

· Valid Fourth Class Power Engineering ticket.

· Minimum 3 years proven experience in building operations, maintenance, or a related field.

· Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and maintain a variety of equipment

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

· A suitable combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

· Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and present a satisfactory drivers abstract.

· WHMIS, First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and climb for extended periods.

· Comfortable working in various environmental conditions. Position involves both indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Additional Requirements:

A satisfactory criminal record check is required as a condition of employment.

Wanuskewin is located outside of Saskatoon city limits and public transportation is not available. Reliable personal transportation is required

Pay: $21.13-$25.34 per hour

8 hour shift
