The “Building Engineer” reports to the Buildings Facilities Manage and is responsible for the operation and maintenance functions within designated facility.

Performing a wide variety of preventive maintenance, repair and minor alterations. Making sure the building is a safe, healthy, and clean environment that satisfies customer needs and ensures building operating efficiency. The expectations of this role are to handle emergencies and deal with events effectively with supervision from the Facilities Manage.

The goals of this role are to maximize predictive and preventative maintenance activities that will decrease the need for emergency and corrective maintenance, reduce overall maintenance costs, and increase the reliability and appearance of buildings and their associated systems.

The position will be rotated between other building engineers on site. The roll may require to be on call for emergencies.

What You Will Do:

  • Respond to all calls as directed by on site manager and via online Facility Management software. Refer major problems, either mechanical, technical or tenant relations to Regional Facility Manager for assistance.
  • Process work permits for third party vendors
  • Maintain all service tools and equipment in good working condition and arrange for repair or replacement as required
  • Follow safe work practices and ensure work is performed in accordance with company work standards
  • Complete reports and paperwork within required timelines
  • As required provide technical guidance and train all Building Operator levels (1&2) in routine tasks
  • Follow safety guidelines and actively lead in establishing safe work plans

What You Will Need:

  • High School diploma and 3rd, 4th or 5th class Power Engineering ticket
  • Class B in refrigeration
  • 2 -5 years Building Operation or Stationary Engineer experience
  • Previous exposure and work experience with automated systems
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • “Handyman” aptitude (i.e., minor building envelope and systems repairs).
  • PC literate and demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of work protection codes and accident investigation
  • Certified in the use of all the man lifts
