We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team as an Automotive Mechanic. This position services and repairs a wide variety of automotive vehicles, and assorted equipment including chainsaws, small packers, generators, and mowers.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

Red Seal Journeyman Automotive Service Technician
Experience diagnosing, servicing and troubleshooting light & medium duty automotive vehicles (both gas and diesel) and various small engines (i.e., water pumps, pressure washers)
Extensive experience with Electric Vehicle (EV) repairing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting
Experience performing preventative maintenance inspections and repairs
Recent experience diagnosing electrical/electronic systems
Experience with boilers and/or 5th / 4th class power engineer certification (would be considered an asset)

 

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment and job requirements:

Conditions of employment

Red Seal Journeyman Automotive Service Technician;
Commercial Vehicle Inspection certificate (within 6 months);
Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent;
Fifth class power engineering certificate (to be met within 1 year of hire);
Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (to be obtained within 6 months of hire);
WHMIS certification (to be obtained within 1 month of hire).
Job Requirement

Capacity to lift heavy objects and work at heights,
Work in adverse weather conditions,
Guide and work with apprentice mechanics,
Work outside of headquarters area for extended periods of time,
Accept standby shift responsibilities.
Use personal protective equipment.
