Maintenance – Class 4 Power Engineer (Boiler / Steam Systems)

Shift: Morning (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM) and Afternoon (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) rotation (2 weeks)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Superintendent, the Class 4 Power Engineer will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all boiler, steam, and thermal systems at the EPS manufacturing facility. This role focuses on operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting boiler and steam distribution systems to support continuous production. The successful candidate will hold a valid Class 4 Power Engineer Certificate issued by Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) and be willing to work flexible shift rotations.

Key Responsibilities:

– Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure steam boilers and associated auxiliary equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operation

– Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on boiler and steam systems, including burners, feedwater systems, deaerators, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and condensate return systems

– Conduct regular boiler rounds, inspections, and log readings in compliance with TSSA regulations and plant procedures

– Diagnose and troubleshoot boiler, steam, and mechanical system issues quickly and accurately to minimize downtime

– Respond safely and effectively to system alarms, process upsets, and emergency conditions

– Perform boiler blowdowns, water sampling, and chemical testing to maintain proper water chemistry

– Report all operational issues, maintenance activities, and repairs to the supervisor via virtual communication systems

– Read and interpret P&ID drawings, equipment manuals, and operating procedures to support troubleshooting and plant reliability

– Maintain accurate operating logs, maintenance records, work orders, PM documentation, and inventory records

– Ensure strict compliance with OHSA, TSSA, and internal safety standards, including lockout/tagout and confined space procedures

– Collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to support safe production plans, shutdowns, and project work

– Assist during equipment startups, shutdowns, and annual inspections as required

Qualifications:

– Valid Class 4 Power Engineer Certificate (TSSA) required

– Minimum 3 years of experience operating boilers and steam systems in an industrial manufacturing environment

– Strong working knowledge of boiler operations, steam systems, mechanical equipment, and safety controls

– Familiarity with water treatment programs and boiler chemistry requirements

– Willingness to work rotating shifts (Day 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM / Afternoon 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

– Strong understanding of OHSA and TSSA regulations with a safety‑first mindset

– Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and system schematics

– Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

– Effective communication skills and a strong team‑based approach

– Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned systems

– Prior experience in EPS, plastics, foam, thermoforming, injection molding, or industrial manufacturing is an asset

– Experience using CMMS software is preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38.00-$42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
