2nd Class Power Engineer

Position Overview
WSG Energy Services is seeking a 2nd Class Power Engineer for a role supporting an industrial steam plant in Cold Lake, Alberta. This position operates on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including both day and night shifts.

The successful candidate will have proven experience operating a Class 2 steam plant or equivalent steam systems and demonstrate a strong commitment to safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Note: Candidates must reside in Cold Lake or be responsible for their own accommodations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Specialist and/or designate, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensuring all client safety requirements are met or exceeded
Providing operational input to plant efficiency initiatives
Learning and understanding the layout, purpose, and operating parameters of all plant systems
Utilizing and contributing to training manuals, Safe Operating Practices, and procedures
Participating in team safety meetings and completing assigned follow-up actions
Performing safe start-ups and shutdowns of equipment in accordance with procedures
Conducting regular product and water sampling and testing
Completing safety checks, permits, reports, and investigations
Safely isolating equipment for maintenance using approved isolation procedures
Promoting and reinforcing a strong safety-first culture
Participating in planned inspections of work areas
Troubleshooting operational issues and initiating repair notifications
Reviewing and preparing safe work documentation for routine maintenance
Assisting with special projects as required
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Experience & Qualifications
2nd Class Power Engineer Certificate (preferred)
3rd Class Power Engineer will be considered if actively working toward 2nd Class, with proof of exam progress within the last two years
5–10 years of relevant industry experience
Ability to clear clean criminal record check and security clearance
Demonstrated experience operating steam plants or equivalent systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (driver’s abstract required)
Additional Requirements
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
Must reside in Cold Lake or manage own accommodations
