Your Opportunity:
The Maintenance Worker III is responsible for heating plant operations and must possess a 5th Class PE Certificate or higher (consideration will be given to a person with a desired Journeyman trade certificate). The MW III is required to be on-call, as well as work weekends. The incumbent is also responsible for small projects in general maintenance and renovation work. Minor repairs may include plaster repairs, drywall repairs, flooring repairs and concrete repairs. This position also assists in renovation work such as constructing walls, hanging cupboards, removing walls, etc. Other tasks will include operating snow removal and lawn maintenance equipment. Please Note: This position is a roaming position and will be required to work at other hospital sites for longer duration within the Edmonton Zone within the Edmonton Zone (including rural). These sites include: Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Sturgeon Community Hospital , Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, Strathcona Community Hospital / CASA, North East Community Health Centre, Leduc Community Hospital, Devon General Hospital, Westview Health Centre, Henwood Treatment Centre and Food Service Centre. Rotating shifts including weekends.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may utilize your maintenance skills and experience in the performance of preventative and demand maintenance within the exterior and interior of the building. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on patient and hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems and pure water systems. In addition, you may be required to coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff in order to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary. Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:
High School education or equivalent along with a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or higher (desired trade certificate will be acceptable along with the ability to obtain a 5th Class PE certificate within 6 months) is required. Minimum of 1 – 2 years boiler operational experience as a 5th Class Power Engineer or higher (prior relevant trade experience may be credited towards minimum) i.e. desired tradesperson, carpenter, pipefitter / steamfitter, electrician, plumber, millwright, HVAC and Instrumentation. Other trades may be considered. Must be able to complete repairs and installations with due consideration to patients, staff and visitors. Must be familiar with snow removal and lawn maintenance equipment. Must possess basic computer skills, in addition to good verbal and written communication skills. Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
