Job Duties/Responsibilities
In the absence of the Head Custodian, this position is responsible for the care, cleaning and security of the building and immediate grounds and for the safe operation of the heating and mechanical equipment.

performing a variety of cleaning duties
adhering to floor care maintenance procedures specific to the school location
monitoring the maintenance of the building and the heating and mechanical equipment
assisting with supervision and training of custodial staff
monitoring the security of the building
complying with school health and safety programs
assisting building tenants, parents and members of the community
performing administrative duties
moving furniture (setting-up and removing furniture for school functions)
removing snow

Education/Qualifications
high school diploma
a minimum 3 years of progressive experience including supervision
valid Building Operator B Certificate or 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate
related custodial training
Skills and Abilities

demonstrated ability to perform all custodial functions
demonstrated knowledge of and ability to effectively operate and maintain heating and mechanical systems
demonstrated knowledge of cleaning products and disinfecting procedures
demonstrated knowledge of and ability to effectively operate and perform minor routine maintenance of all power equipment
demonstrated knowledge of health and safety, fire and security protocols
demonstrated knowledge of safe chemical management practices
demonstrated knowledge of basic spill clean-up procedures for blood spills and minor chemical spills
demonstrated ability to plan and organize
ability to meet the physical demands of the position
proven ability to mentor, supervise, train and evaluate the performance of custodial staff
strong verbal and written communication skills
demonstrated ability to use a variety of Division software programs

Rate of Pay
$26.95 per hour
