4th Class Power Engineer

This is a skilled mechanical position responsible for the safe and efficient operation and monitoring of the power plant, steam distribution system, emergency power plant, chillers and other mechanical systems. The Building Systems Operator will be required to perform a number of inspectional maintenance functions, by conducting tours of the building and preparing inspection reports on the operation of all building mechanical and electrical systems.

Duties will include: –

Operating boilers and other boiler room equipment in accordance with the predetermined standards of safety and efficiency
Operating and supervising the efficient operations of the heating plant and making necessary repairs to the heating system and auxiliary equipment.
Using the Building Automation Systems Computer to monitor all systems listed on the input-output summary.
Making adjustments and repairs to boilers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment including refrigeration, air conditioning, chillers and related equipment.
Testing feed water, chilled water, heating water and adding chemical as required.
Maintaining logs and records relating to safety and efficiency of the buildings mechanical systems and reporting unusual deviations and needed repairs to the supervisor and making necessary repairs to plumbing and mechanical systems.
Cleaning the boilers and boiler room greasing the oiling equipment and repairing steam, kitchen and other allied equipment.
Monitoring the pneumatic tube system computer.
Receiving and logging all after hours maintenance calls.
Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: –

Applicants must have completed Grade 12.
Successful completion of a standardized course in Power Engineer Class 4 at an approved institute of technology or trade school.
A license number as issued by the Province of Prince Edward Island.
A good previous work and attendance record.

Salary Range: $25.09 – $25.88 per hour (Level K)

Bi-Weekly Hours: 15 Hours Bi-Weekly / 7.5 Hour Shifts / Fridays
