Description

As part of the Facility Infrastructure Business Unit, The Operations Supervisor is a key role at our Pioneer 1 facility. Located in Fort McMurray Alberta, the Operations Supervisor is accountable for the safe, reliable, and compliant operations of the plant equipment and assets. This role is also responsible to ensure the plant is operated in accordance with commercial instructions in an efficient manner. The Supervisor, Operations provides direct supervision to shift operators and reports to the Senior Manager, Offgas Operations.
Key Activities and Responsibilities

Serve as a role model to the team and consistently behave in alignment to IPL’s Core Values, the H&S Policy, Values and Commitment and Stakeholder Relations Policy statements.
Conduct objective performance reviews with each team member at mid-year and year end focusing on accomplishments, areas for improvement, annual objectives, and performance to these R&Rs.
Work with the Senior Manager, Offgas Operations to set challenging, achievable, and focused annual objectives and review progress on the objectives with each team member throughout the year (minimum twice/year)
Ensures that the operations training program is being actively used and provide feedback for continuous improvement of the program.
Provide coaching to new and seasoned employees with regards to plant training and process understanding.
Backfill for Senior Manager, Offgas Operations as required.
Maintains an open attitude toward change and participate when change is appropriate.
Troubleshoots and resolves issues pertaining to the operation of the plant.
Ensure all Operational duties are performed according to IPL procedures/ policies/ standards and guidelines.
Management/audit of Maximo bypass and Suppressed alarm list.
Coordinates shift schedule, vacation requests, and training requirements to always ensure adequate coverage.
Coordinates with the Maintenance Supervisor and ensures short- and long-term maintenance plans are reviewed and supported.
Has a thorough understanding of operational/maintenance risks and considers the consequences and impact before acting.
Coordinates Emergency Response Plan (ERP) situations. Actively becomes Incident Commander until resources or relief is available onsite.
Assists with or develops shutdown plans, commissioning plans and operating procedures.
Has the ability to act as a shutdown lead when required.
Frequently reviews plant process conditions and opportunities to enhance plant efficiencies.
Ensures Facilities Infrastructure “Core Values” and “Stakeholder Relations Values and Commitments” are strictly adhered too.
Promote a culture of incident prevention and EH&S excellence by serving as a role model and adhering to our EH&S Policy, Values and Commitments.
Identify and reports incidents and near misses and participate in the investigation with the aim to provide closed loop corrective action to prevent recurrence.

Education, Skills and Experience

Minimum 15 years of experience in an Oil and Gas facility environment, with a focus on plant operations.
Previous supervisory and safety leadership experience of plant operators.
Leadership skills applicable to planning and execution of facility maintenance, and work authorization processes.
Experience with process troubleshooting, environmental compliance, and production accounting.
Engineering Background would be considered an asset
Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineer’s Certificate of Competency.
