The Cogeneration Facility is owned by SaskPower and is located at the Nutrien Cory Mine site (8km west of Saskatoon).

 

Reporting to the COGEN Shift Supervisor, this position will be required to control, operate, and maintain the 228MW cogeneration facility that supplies the steam requirements of the potash production facilities and electrical energy to the provincial grid.

 

What you will do:

Operate and monitor the gas turbines and steam turbine using a GE Mark Vie Control System and Heat Recover Steam Generators and balance of plant using a DeltaV DCS
Operate and monitor a demineralized water treatment plant
Monitor and assist the safe handling and transfer of bulk chemical deliveries
Ensure chemical analysis and chemical control for steam, boiler water, cooling and condensate systems
Complete rotational duties as a control room operator and field floor operator
Work safely and be able to follow all procedures and policies that are in place
Participate in safety meetings and inspections
Work occasional overtime to cover absences of other operating team members and assist with plant outages
Implement and maintain the Station Safe Work Process Permitting System to coordinate the safe preparation of plant equipment for maintenance activities
Respond to health, safety and environmental concerns
Complete other duties as assigned by station management

What you will bring:

Hold a valid 2nd class power engineering license in the province of Saskatchewan
5 or more years of experience as a power engineer
Experience in the operation of power generating equipment, large frame gas turbines, steam turbines and related equipment is an asset
Positive safety behaviour and a safety mindset
Ability to work safely and effectively in a labour intensive team environment as well as independently
Stable work record
Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Ability to interact positively with co-workers and supervisors
Willingness to learn and gain required knowledge and experience through training
