THE ROLE:

The Boiler Engineer is primarily responsible for overseeing the maintenance, service, and repair of the hotel boilers and HVAC equipment.

ACTIVITIES:

The duties and responsibilities for the Boiler Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Responsible for routine serving and maintenance of boiler
Ensure the maintenance of proper pressure in the boiler
Maintaining and regulating the temperatures within the building
Follow all safety and precautionary measures while working
Detecting any malfunctions in the boiler room, in the boiler and immediately repairing the same
On call for after hour boiler issues
Minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry and kitchen equipment repairs
Respond to housekeeping maintenance calls and/or projects as assigned
Respond to daily hotel, grounds and dormitory calls
Participate in hotel’s guest rooms preventative maintenance program
Assist in organizing and ordering all materials as required
Report broken or misused equipment to Chief Engineer
Communicate effectively and professionally with both guests and colleagues, respond to requests in a timely manner, and assist in achieving the Departmental and Hotel goals
Have a complete knowledge of hotel fire standards and procedures (hotel and residence)
Ensure all physical operations of the Hotel, including refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment and electric systems are maintained in a neat, clean and safe fashion
Maintain regular attendance in compliance as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working
COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:

Power Engineer, 4th class ticket is required for this position
Possession of a trade license/certificate an asset
Knowledge of building management systems, and other mechanical related computer system
Experience in boiler water treatment is required
Experience in building maintenance a definite asset
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
Have ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
Have ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to work under pressure
Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
Refrigeration, electrical and plumbing skills, boiler operation and maintenance skills, water treatment and chiller operation knowledge
Must have a valid New Brunswick driver’s license
Knowledge of energy management an asset
