I remember anxiously waiting to break the seal of my Power Engineering exam, to flip the first couple pages and see whether the last two months of hard work and studying was worth it.
The examiner walking around the classroom checking our drivers license, telling us about the examination rules, the fire escape route, and the option of having our Power Engineering exams remarked should we receive a failing grade.
The possibility of having our exams remarked was often followed by advice that if it’s a multiple choice exam, don’t bother, it’ll just be ran through the Scantron again and spit out the same result.
If your writing a long answer exam and want a remark. Submit the request within the first 30 days of receiving your exam result and another examiner will remark your exam, often implying the result will be the same.
It wasn’t until a couple months ago on the Power Engineering 101 Forum, that I actually heard of someone requesting a remark after receiving a failing grade, and then receiving a passing grade from the remark.
After hearing their story, I wondered how many Power Engineers request a remark? Has anyone requested a remark on a multiple choice exam? Would the pass/fail results of a remark vary by jurisdiction?
To answer these questions I have set up a series of polls. The first poll is simply whether throughout your Power Engineering career you have requested a remark? What was the result of the remark?
Then the polls is broken down by Province to see whether the pass/fail results vary by jurisdiction.
Example, using the experience throughout my Power Engineering career:
Throughout your Power Engineering career have you had an exam remarked? No
The Result Of The Remark Was? I’d click the blue“View Results” to see what the percentage of pass/fail is for the Power Engineers who have requested a remark.
I’d then go to Have You Had A Power Engineering Exam Remarked In Alberta? as this is where I wrote my Power Engineering exams.
Have you had a multiple choice exam remarked in Alberta? No
Have you had a long answer exam remarked in Alberta? No
Then click the blue “View Results” to see the results of Power Engineers who have had multiple choice or long answer exams remarked in Alberta.
If you have requested multiple remarks throughout your career, let me know in the comments with the test “multiple choice or long answer”, result “pass/fail” and jurisdiction. I will manually add the results to the polls.
