Position Title: Refinery Operator, Area 2

Team and Location: Parkland Refinery Burnaby, BC

Hours of work:

12 hour shifts (3 Days, 3 Off, 3 Nights, 3 Off) OR 10-hour day Monday to Thursday

Position Summary:

Refinery Operator in charge of safely running a modern-day refinery. This position will support refinery operational activities such as issuing work permits, performing equipment isolation, confined space entry, truck offloads and routine operational rounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A self-starter and effective problem solver.
  • Mechanical aptitude along with the proven ability to effectively handle several tasks/projects concurrently.
  • Refinery Process Operation.
  • Water sampling & testing.
  • Assist maintenance support activities including issuing work permits, performing lock-out/tag-out activities, isolating plant equipment, returning equipment to service and operator activities associated with confined space entry.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A valid 3rd class power engineering certificate.
  • Demonstrated commitment to proactive safety culture and Incident and Injury Free (IIF) operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, meet deadlines, manage a variable work schedule.
  • Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of industrial permitting and safe work practices and procedures
  • Leadership – Able to lead initiatives through others.
