As an Assistant Shift Engineer – Fourth Class you will:
- Respond to breakdowns and carrying out daily inspections of critical mechanical room equipment located in various buildings of the hospital.
- Perform maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment and performs mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems such as heating, air handling and pneumatic tube systems.
- Operate, repair and carry out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Education & Experience
- Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of B.C.
- Two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
